I hope this helps someone but I had exactly the same problem for nearly eight months....then one day I serviced my 2.2 CX5 myself and found the small hose below the main air intake pipe on the air filter housing was not connected, it looks like a return breather hose. Once reconnected and driven a few miles fault has gone. I had Air mass metre fault and scbs fault. Now completely gone and all for a tiny push on pipe.

Have you got a picture of the cable location, I’ll check mine as well.

Try changing the exhaust pressure, mazda upgraded the sensor and since i switched mine scbs and traction control fault has not come back, apparently the piping gets clogged up and it effects the turbo making it lag, which will throw a fault and any fault will dissable the scbs as a safety
The mazda part #SHY6 18 W00
its very awkward to replace piping as there is not much room so battery has to be removed so you can access a couple of bolts
If you watch this video it will show you where your sensor is
Hope someone finds this helpful

Hi I'm new to the club and wondered if anybody had same problem, I have a 2016 Sport nav tourer with 91k on the clock, a couple of weeks ago I got three messages up on dash scbs forward malfunction, traction control and I stop was flashing, the car went into limp mode but when I turned engine off it all reset and ran ok, this happened a few more times so I took it to Mazda main dealers and they said might be dpf clogged up, so they unclogged it and said they were 99% sure this would fix it but it hasn't, the car is still doing it, it has lack of power, the auto box seems out of sync and if I give it some stick on the motor way it comes up with same messages again and goes into limp mode, I'm taking it back in next week and they're keeping it until it's fixed ( I hope), anyone had similar problems.
I recently bought a Mazda 6 2015 model, Manual exactly a week ago. Everything seemed fIne with all the pre-checks. I was supposed to drive about 1300 km back home. As soon as I hit the highways I noticed SCBS FORWARD MALFUNCTION, TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE lights come on, on the dash, then I realised it lost power. It drives fine but doesn’t have enough power. I managed to slowly bring it home and I have booked an appointment with my mechanic to go have it checked out tomorrow. I am thinking of going to Mazda service centre after this, if my mechanic dont figure it out.

I wanted to know if anyone has experience that on their Mazda. What is the course, what do I have to expect and what are the possible solutions.

I read some post about it but didn’t quite get any solution or the exact cause. It just seem to be a Mazda thing.

Please advise #Mazda6 #Mazda #TechnicianOnTheGo #allmazdamodels #mazdacommunity

Don't dwell too much on the SCBS and Traction control indications. These tend to occur when something else is wrong. Find out what is causig the engine check light to illuminate. The following fault code table should help you.
Mazda 2.2d Skyactive Fault Codes
For me it was:
P0101 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance
P2262 - Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Pressure A Not Detected – Mechanical
but not always at the same time. Also logged occasionally was:
P258B - Vacuum Pump Control Circuit A Range/Performance
During investigation I found my exhaust camshaft was worn. Not uncommon on some 2015/16 engines (Sorry I dont have affected engine numbers) A bad batch of camshafts, I believe.
Cameras & optics Gas Camera lens Household hardware Lens

I replaced the camshaft and got significantly improved engine performance and fuel economy but was still logging the fault codes including SCBS malfunction.
It turned out that the ground metal from the camshaft had found its way into the vacuum pump and ground aeay at the seals. I replaced the pump and my faults are now clear.
This may not be the same fault as you are having but I hope it helps.

I have been having the same SCBS forward malfunction etc warnings for a while with all of the judders etc on down shifts, once the car was turned off and on again the fault would clear but recently the car chucked up the warning again and now feels as though it’s in limp mode. Obviously after stopping and starting the warning has cleared but the car remains in limp mode only really pulling from 2500-2750rpm onwards. With no warnings flagged I assume I will be unable to read the fault code via diagnostics? Does anyone have any ideas or recent solutions to this at all?

Hello everyone, I have just had the same issue as you are reporting, with my 2015 Mazda 6 going into limp mode and the Scbs forward malfunction light on. I have history with this type of fault on Mazdas. In the past I owned a 2006 Diesel Mazda 6, and had major issues with the Dpf lights and limp mode etc. I Had it in the garage on countless occasions with mechanics nearly always suggesting the dpf was blocked. However, from doing my own research and working with a local mechanic, we were able to identify that it was the egr valve that was causing the problem. We replaced that, and I never had the same issue again. I'm taking the 2015 mazda to tye garage today, so I will see how we get on.

I've had the same problem for many months on Mazda 2.2 diesel 2016 GJ. The car has been driving as normal but the SCBS code was coming up together with traction control light. I learnt on the way that this is the way Mazda 6 tells you there is a problem and you need to plug in to a computer for diagnostic. My error code was P0101 - Air Flow, Air Mass Meter.

Since I developed the problem I had:

  • MAF sensor replaced with a genuine Mazda one (£250 - I wouldn't go with a non-genuine tbh)
  • Manifold cleaned up
  • MAP sensor cleaned up and checked
  • EGR cooler cleaned up and checked
  • all pipes/connectors checked up
  • oil and filters replaced (twice in the space of 5k miles)
  • strainer cleaned up

I also learnt that Mazda 6 requires injector washers change as the copper ones worn and may cause a lot of various problems.
Copper washers were replaced with steel ones (genuine Mazda part)
During the change my mechanic found out that injector number 2 was seized.
He couldn't do it with manual tools as he would risk damaging the plastic cover of the engine, which would cost a lot to replace.
I found Dan from Diesel Matters (UK) who specialises in that sort of work who just got it out this morning with a set of very specialist tools. The seized injector was already worn too so we had to change it (£340)

Now I need to flush the engine to get as much carbon built up out as possible and replace oil/filter again and clean the strainer.

I hope that this work will be enough and that the MAF sensor issues was only some sort of side effect of the injector issue.

But time will tell!
Hi Jarek,

I’m experiencing similar problem to yours with my Mazda 6.Over last 6-8 months I have tried various things to solve the problem but no success so far, problem is coming back. When it kicks of I have got scbs and traction control warning on the dashboard. Code p0101 stored in the system as an active and u0401 and u0433 as an inactive. Car had: manifold and throttle body clean, professional dpf regeneration, egr velve changed, MAF+MAP+exhaust pressure sensor changed, vacuum pump change, new genuine Mazda software installed, i-eloop module checked, alternator changed and still nothing. I have heard that the possible reason for my problems is conected with damaged injectors washers. I have seen you have changed them. Could you let me know if it has solved the problem, please? I would really appreciate any advice as I am really struggling with finding solution to solve it.

Thanking you for the update, this gives us some potential root causes for the issue. Amazing that the seized injector was only discovered when changing out washers!
Hi…. IMO, Injections can function with no indication of a problem even if they are seized in the hole with excessive carbon build up. Unless the injector nozzle spray of fuel has been compromised with carbon the FIE will not register a problem.

So many variation with this issue. I have a 2018 CX-5 2.2 TD Sport. Left car at airport parking and according to the cowboys at the off site parking, the battery was allegedly flat when they tried to start the car so the tried to jump start it. They got it going but when I eventually got to the site, th3 warning lights on the dash lit up like a disco. I let the car run to charge up the battery and when I was brave enough, I found a Halfords in Crawley to check the status of the battery. Said it was in good order and after the 3 or 4 mile drive to Halfords, the tyre press light had gone out along with the engine warning light and SCBS - Reverse camera light.
What remained was the SCBS ligh5 an£catheter lane departure light.
The performance did not look to be compromised so I drove the car home from Gatwick- 144 miles, but the SCBS - Forward and Lane Dep lights stayed on.
I took it to my local repair guy to see if he could clear the codes and see what was going on. He cleared ( but I forgot to ask for a code printout) but could not do anything about the 2 remaining codes. After a bit of research, We both thought at this point it could be the front facing camera at fault.
I saved up my money and took it to the local Mazda garage for a diagnostic check and after £199, they confirmed it was indeed in need of a new forward SCBC Camera. They also quoted me £998 to supply ad fit.
I came away and research more through forums and with that. I found a new (eBay) camera and purchased it.
I fitted the ne2 camera myself over the weekend and ithas made no difference. I changed back to the original came4 and we ar3 back t9 square one.
I spoke with Mazda today and they said it needed recalibration and specialist fitting ( honestly, took me 10 mins) so regretfully, I have booked it in for a £150 recal for tomorrow, watch this space !!!

Hi Talon
Have you used this with Bluetooth adaptor at all?
I only have iPad so will try obdlink mx + bt adaptor.
thanks for the heads up, appreciate it.
Russ
Question….. I purchased a used SCBS forward camera from eBay and the local Mazda dealer said it cannot be installed into another car due to it having been programmed for its original car and is protected by a pin code # ?

does anyone know if this is the case because they obviously want me to buy from them?
