That's some BS, instead of going forward, they went backward, which makes using wireless charging impossible, as all these charging devices require 12v socket.

There used to be 2 in the older 3rd Gens, in front and armrest.

Now there is only one, in the armrest which is powered all the time

Theres ability for wireless charging in front of the gear shifter... and they arent called cigarette sockets. Plus you can add your own shit.

Thats a different car from mine lol

i have 2019 mazda 6

they actually sell a wireless charging pad from Mazda but you can only get it overseas

what i wanted is be able to wirelessly charge while my phone is in the car holder rather than just laying there hidden

They removed the accessory socket that used to be in the front caddy on previous models

terrible

I already had that in my Chrome favorites. I know about it. That's nice but then you're phone is laying there out of sight and view.

What I wanted to use was a wireless charging phone mount. Proclip has the attachment and wireless charging pad for it, the problem is that it has to be connected to the accessory socket. It does NOT have a USB cable. That's why it won't work for this car, because the accessory socket is ON all the time. If for some reason, you leave your phone in the car on the magnetic pad, it will drain the battery.

The flat pad you linked is different, it has a harness that is connected behind the accessory socket, but I think that connection cuts power after the car is off

They removed the accessory socket under the radio that would cut power after the car turned off.

I'm not interested in a flat pad, it doesn't serve my purposes as I want to be able to look at the phone while driving

So if I want to use my phone on a mount, I have to connect it to USB like the photo below

So it took you 5 posts to tell us what you want? And who would "accidentally" leave their phone in their car for long enough to kill the battery? My voltmeter and 2 other USB hubs are always on and i drive maybe 3-4 times a week at most and sometimes it sits for 4 days on end and the really small lithium battery is fine. I also leave my MP3 phone in the car and most times its charging too.

All you need to do is wire it to one of the switched fuses in the lower foot well panel. The mirror is switched, so you can use that to wire the desired mount. There are posts all over this site on how to do this.

but you have a 2017 that still has the accessory socket that cuts power

Are you using the socket with battery logo?

Another problem is the accessory socket in the 2018+ is inside the arm rest, making it harder to hide the cable or even reach it
