I used CRC brand too. They also make MAF cleaner
So it's ok to use this? I just picked up a can...

Edit... Nvm this just answered my question

just want to say excellent guide! it took maybe 20 mins just to be safe and turn my engine light almost immediately.

yup ur not the only one. the webpage probably expired.

Cleaned mine this evening. Took a quick spin around the block and all seems well. Will know more tomorrow. My symptoms were 1) rough idle and 2) felt like it was releasing the gas peddle for a split second while just driving down the road. Kind of like a jerk or stutter motion. Just plain weird.

Simple, quick, easy and cheap...thanks for the writeup, OP!

another possible symptom of this can also involve Car Stalling during low RPM's/stops

@MrTea

i think this is the problem im having with my 04 mazda 6. before i go buying a new cat (which i think/thought is/was the problem) i would like to try this guide out. but im not at all knowledgeable with cars. if you can please reupload photos or send them to me it would really help me. thanks

edit: nevermind. i found a link. hehe

I've been having spongy throttle response problems since changing my front o2 sensor.

Cleaned the MAF, and it was excellent again for about 10 miles. Now back to flat throttle between 2k and 3k rpm.

Do I need to replace my MAF? There are no vac leaks.

Engine light codes 02189 and p2179

Hi,
Just got these codes and hoping cleaning the MAF is the reason. Great write up, I'll be using it this weekend. Really appreciated. I'll post back if this was truly the cause.

Did it today. Worked. Many many thanks.
Easy and saved my time and cash.
I did have a cut in my air flow tube, which was likely the reason for the CEL, but nothing a little duck tape and electrical tape can't cure until I buy a new piece:D. Cleaned the MAF and IAT, and I can actualyl notice/feel the difference.

holy thread revival batman!

needs...updated...pics... x_x

but really tho, I need to do this, what I got from this thread was don't touch the MAF wires in the back...got it lol but then how does it get cleaned?? What the eff man, does the spray do all the cleaning?

Yes you just spray it down and let it drip and dry a few times without touching the actual sensor part.
