Has anyone noticed that the keyless entry system that allows you to walk away from the car and have it lock the doors doesn't always work? I'm hoping its something wrong with MY car only and not another misstep in Mazda's production.

No, you're not alone. The auto-lock feature is proximity based to the driver's seat from what I can tell. If you're too far away when the last door is closed, it doesn't work. This tends to happen for me when I have someone else with me. It also occasionally happens when I am in a hurry, grab something out of the back seat and close the door as I walk away. At that point I'm too far away and it doesn't auto-lock.

What he said.

Easiest solution is get closer to the car and open/close any of the doors again. This mainly happens to me when a passenger closes the door slowly and I've already begun to walk away.

You pretty much have to wait a second or two after you close any door and then begin to walk away. You will hear one beep once you close the door and then a second one as you are walking away. It can become rather annoying having to wait but still a cool feature. I never have to take my key FOB for anything, so that is a plus in my book.
