In their defense they probably don't know what's up. My dealer had no clue how to fix it and told upfront. They had to call mazda and talk to an engineer and such. They got it fixed though.

Now they are waiting on parts and the specialist to come in tomorrow. Looks like that $1700 fix again for them. It will not surprise me if it becomes a recall fix matter. I should have my car back on Friday *crosses fingers* my dealership service department isn't one of the best so I hope they don't mess anything up. They're nice enough, just kinda slow and lazy. And the condescending to women thing. I told dude he was gonna end up replacing it just like OP said and he was all "you can't believe what you read on the internet" and "I'll have your car back to you in one day." I'm driving this loaner cx-5 that reeks of smoke (and I smoke so imagine the reek!) and they gave me no gas and I had to call them today for an update instead of them calling me yesterday like they were supposed to. I may just go back to my old Mazda dealership, they are 2 hr away but they were good! They would listen to me because they knew better than to play the stupid female game.

update: they are now sending a Mazda specialist from Japan to check this out and fix it. He should be here on Monday....
Holy cow what a pain in the ass. Can't believe they seem so clueless about it. I have this package bit have only used it once. I wonder if there is an issue with the FOW/MRCC if it also affects the SCBS

car is fixed and back home! yay!!!
and they had to replace the whole part.
the dealership was all psyched about meeting this guy from Hiroshima Japan lol. Said he checked out everything in my car. Mazda is NOT playing around!!!

now I just am waiting on copies of my paperwork to get ticket nulled for "improper equipment" ha ha state trooper, told you so....

Hi MagicMan, new user here. I just picked up my New 2014 Mazda 6 GT this week and in my first drive got the same FOW, MRCC Radar Blocked Error. Can you let me know if yours was fixed and was it a simple part replacement?

Curious to learn more detail about how it was resolved (if it was resolved) before i go in myself to try to get it fixed.

I've noticed this happen to me twice. First time was a while ago and most recently was within this week. Popped up while I was on the highway and CC wouldn't work. It worked fine after the next start-up. I was assuming it was due to there being light snow, but I think I'll mention it to the dealer near me and see if it's something I should get fixed.

I would say it is more than highly likely this also affects SCBS. When any active safety system signals to apply brakes, there is an extremely high level of accuracy needed and this is usually accomplished by using data from a combination of Camera/Radar/Lidar depending on what the vehicle has. I assume both the camera and front facing radar need to signal to stop the car before the SCBS activates.

My system is not working now either, been out a couple of weeks. Worst part is the cruise control will not function at all without it.

Wow might make it a point to not get these features now. I didn't want them to begin with, but I was going to take them if they had it in stock. Now I will make sure to not get these features. The only thing I like about them is that it comes with the cool shift knob and the sensors on the windshield look cool. Maybe I could get a 2015 without that stuff that would still have the leather shift knob and leather seats.

So I went into the dealer today for this issue. He stated that Mazda is aware of some issues with the FOW/MRCC system. They have a TSB out # 01-014/13, and had to order a new sensor part GHP9-67-XA1D, which of course is on backorder. But at least there is a fix available. Hopefully newer vehicles will not have this issue. I bought mine 3/13.

So I went to the dealer today to get this installed. This is the first one they have done, so they were clueless on how long it might take. After waiting 90 minutes they are like "Uh we have to get a tripod and calibrate the sensor, so we have to keep the car." I'm really hoping this gets done right. I also found out that the replacement sensor is $1500.00! Glad it is a warranty repair.

Damn....=-O

Wow can't believe after this system was replaced in May, it has failed again. They have to replace the sensor again. They tried to re-flash it as there is a TSB out for it not sensing correctly, but that didn't do anything. They are calling Mazda tech tomorrow to try and figure out what to do. Lame.

I just had the same issue as you. I had to get my sensor replace as well. Now I'm wondering if I should get an extended warranty in case this thing breaks down again... Anyone know of reputable extended warranty companies?

The MRCC only gets disabled on my 6 when the snow/ice/salt gets thick on my long drive to work (Cleveland). The Lane Departure Warning (LDW) has never worked and I drive it like I'm drunk trying to get the warning to appear (when it's safe to do so). Any way of testing the system for this LDW failure?

OK well it turns out there IS a problem still...

I drove 30 miles to pick up the car after they cleaned the radar sensors. Not even out of the dealer parking lot the "radar is blocked" warning came up again.

I made sure not to turn the engine off so they could actually SEE the warning light...sure enough they saw it happen again and took it for a spin. After they came back they told me they gotta "call this one in." They gave me back my loaner and after more than halfway back home, they called me saying they talked to mazda and there IS a malfunction with the radar system on 15 cars but something tells me it might affect more than that.

They had to order me a new radar system and aernt sure when its going to come in because the car is so new. So i drove back up to pick up my car and now I wait for them to call me when the part comes in....

Just makes me wonder what ELSE could be wrong. I need to ask him if my car is free of the check engine light glitch...

Just wanted to update you guy and let you know it doest seem to be an issue on some cars.
i have the same problem with my Mazda 6 2.2d. i live in Sweden but good to know that there are more som have problems with it. should go on warrantie or?

If you're within your warranty period, yes, definetely !

If the part costs around 1700$ in the US, here in Europe (varies from a country to another), through an official dealer, the part can cost up 3000$.
Labor is estimated to 0.7 hours, with the realignment, count an hour or so.

Original part # was GHP9-67-XA1A, actual part #, after several changes that clearly show there is a real issue with it, is GHP9-67-XA1D.
You can get it cheaper in some US shops like:
#GHP967XA1D: Cruise Control Distance Sensor. Distance sensor. SENSOR. ADAPTIVE CRUISE
Mazda Genuine Part Number GHP9-67-XA1D | Sensor Unit,Radar
or on eBay, just Google with the part #.

I broke the radar twice (every 18 months), the first one was replaced under warranty but, for the second, Mazda are trying to find any excuse not to pay it.
I'm really pissed off ...
