Windshield condensation - has your VA/MD/DC dealer fixed it?

Hey all...

So, some of us in the DC area have to deal with the 6's windshield condensation issue, I believe (because air leaks from the climate control system thru the defrost vents when you are using the main face/feet vents, if you are using the AC on a humid warm day it will cause condensation to form on the outside of the windshield). For two years, it's annoyed me, but because my dash has so many rattles, I've been nervous about getting it fixed because I don't want to risk ending up with even more rattles from them moving the dash to fix it.

But in the past few weeks, it has started to drive me nuts. I went on a long trip for the 4th, and from Richmond north, I either had to have the interior temp set at 75+ or had to deal with flicking the wipers every once in a while to clear the condensation. Since then, with the weather we've had, I've had 6+ inches of condensation on the windshield almost every evening when I've been in the car.

So what I'm wondering is, has anyone else taken their car to the dealer for this fix, and how did it go? If folks can let me know how their specific dealer did, I'd be glad - I'd like to take it to someone who actually fixed the problem right, and didn't end up with the car rattling a ton more or poorly screwed back together.

Thoughts, anyone?

I had mine done as per the TSB about a year ago, and so far no condensation.

No rattles or anything loose in the dash. I guess it depends on how good the dealer service is.

There's an MRI/TSB listed at the Mazda6Tech site about this.

No dealer should refuse to do this for you.

I'm less worried that they'll refuse to do it, and more worried that they'll rush it or screw it up. I think I'm just a bit nervous about someone mucking around in the dash given all the current rattles. I want to make sure it doesn't get worse.

My 2006 does this as well. It drive me NUTS! I was going to mention it when I go in for the oil change, but I thought about having them take apart the dash too and I don't think I wanna do that just yet. I don't have any rattles and wanna keep it that way.

I took the chance about 2 months ago. They took my dash apart and whatnot, i was also very concerened about rattles at the time, but one day the fog got way too bad.

No rattles (thank god) but it still fogs up somewhat, its a lot better then before though. I really don't want to take the chance of bringing it back in so i think i can live with it.

I bought my 6i in March '05 and noticed the problem last summer. I took it to the dealer (Rich Morton Mazda) and they fixed it per TSB, no noises, rattles or problems after that

i took mine in and everything is fine now. I haven't had any condensation in a year since it was done. They did however break my pillar covers and had to replace them. While they were replacing them, they hit my Black Racing Lip on a lift and destroyed it, causing them to buy me the Erebuni bumper and having it put on by a shop in the area only for me not to like it as much and take it off and return to the stock front end. Other than that though, everything's fine.

I took mine to Russel Mazda in Baltimore for the fix. Once I gave them the TSB number I found on here, they supposedly fixed the problem. I say supposedly because they still have the car.
