If his insurance company just cuts you a check, then you can get whatever you want. Most of the time though they won't do that. So when you take it to the body shop, insurance only covers OEM stuff. Unless they are generous and give you an appearence package allowance if you had any aftermarket parts that were damaged. If you know someone that works at a body shop though, have them quote you a price that it would cost for the bumper that you want plus shipping and labor to put it on. That is what I would do.
