Hi All, hope this isn’t a question that’s already been answered, I couldn’t see a direct answer when I searched.

I have a Mazda 3 BM 2014 with OS version 27.00.000 and Music Database Ver 00.00.013. I couldn’t see a region code I went into diagnostic menu 53 which states MAZ_CMU-140_27.00.000.

Is this indicating that it is a generic version which will accept CMU NA 31.00.100A? And then from there I can proceed with an ADR version?

Or if I use the NA 31.00.100A will I need to continue with a NA70.x version?

the reason I’m thinking I need the NA version is that I cannot see any 31 versions on file for ADR region.

Thanks for all the info you’ve provided here I’m sure it’s helped many people to date :)

I dont think it is, just offering a cheaper unit in case someone wants to take the leap.

I'm having troubles updating and I was wondering if anyone can help.

After I insert my USB and press search (step 13 of the guide), the car runs a search and says "No new update packages available"

I am using a Kingston Data Traveler, which is reformatted and FAT32
When I plug in my USB the car recognizes it
The files are .UP and not .ZIP
I have printed out and followed all the instructions up to step 13, which is where I run into the troubles
I have also tried different USB ports

Any ideas?

I solved the "no new update packages available" issue.

TLDR: If you're on 30.00.300 you will need to -> upgrade to 31.00.100 -> THEN you can upgrade to 70.00.100a -> THEN you can upgrade to 74.00.230a.

The instructions said that if your firmware is ON OR BELOW 30.00.000 then you must upgrade to 31.00.100 FIRST before upgrading to 70.00.100a.

My firmware was 30.00.300 - which is above 30.00.000 - so I had figured I would not need to upgrade to 31.00.100 (this is incorrect).

When I put my USB in with the 70.00.100a software, I would get the message "No new update packages available".

I tried different USBs, reformatted it a bunch of times and still no luck.

When I put 31.00.100 on my USB, the car recognized it and I upgraded to 31.00.100 with no issues.

I was THEN able to upgrade to 70.00.100a with no issues. In other words, ONLY after upgrading to 31.00.100 did my car recognize that 70.00.100a was on my USB drive.

So if you are on 30.00.300, you will still need to upgrade to 31.00.100 before proceeding, even though the instructions say that if you've above 30.00.000 you don't need to.

I by NO MEANS am an expert at this, this is just something that I experienced. If you are having the "no new update packages available" issue, check your software to see if its 30.00.300 - if it is, try upgrading to 31.00.100 first.

Cheers!

Edit: Also, thank you ASH8 again for all your time and effort. You're truly a legend.

Can someone please share the files for NA 70.00.100A and the 74.XX.XXX if you have them. I am trying to upgrade the OS on my 2018 CX5. Already ordered the hardware, waiting for the OS. Thanks.

Thank you everyone for the helpful discussion in this thread. I recently got a mazda CX 5 which is currently running on a 70.0.0.XXX firmware and I would like to upgrade this. I would really appreciate it if someone could privately share the NA N_74.00.230A-UPDATE.UP file with me. Thanks.
