Does this brake kit look acceptable?

Hey I am need to do brakes all around, I got a nasty shake and a bit of a squeal when I brake. I came across this whole set and I was wondering if it was worth it in your opinion. Do the stainless steel brake lines help? If you dont like the look of this one, any recommendations?

Um, I wouldn't.

Don't cop out on the most important function on an automobile.

The OE equipment does great. If price is an issue, Rotora and StopTech are tried and trusted here. There's some here running R1 Concept rotors.

that is listed by F2USA.. call them and ask what brand they are

When I need to, I'm going to do my best to replace with original equipment at all four corners.

Well considering that my stock rotors are warped after only 30k miles, I can't say I'm too impressed by the OEM quality... There has got to be a better quality product out there and slotted look cool :)

I wonder what F2 said, one of those guys IIRC worked on the initial development of the speed 6. Not sure if that is correct, but they also supply a BSD kit and from what I hear they are already producing a FMIC for MS3 and there are some folks in SoCal that have or are going to get fitted for an MS6 application. Regardless, I'm curious of what brand of rotors the kit includes.

You can't go wrong with StopTech. Great company, great products!

OH! Drilled are really for help in the wet the sloted are best in my opinion. Anyway check out the topic below lots of discussion on that topic.

I know many of you dont like protege garage but I was looking around and came across this deal, thought it was pretty good . Just to share.

He said $489 for front rotors, front pads, rear rotors, rear pads, braided lines front and rear. either CS or goodridge lines and hawk pads

F2 just released their brake brake replacement parts for the Mazda's, expecting the systems to do quite well actually. F2 is pretty good about making sure thier stuff is going to work well and correctly. a few guys from the local forum have these parts on order already.

and for what it's worth, getting 30k out of brake rotors isn't really that bad is it? anything over 20k seems good to be, but i drive a bit more aggressive perhaps?

for the most part, as long as you stay away from the cheapo stuff, and ensure if they are drilled the holes are chamfered....iron discs are just that, iron discs. No company can do much to it, be it Stop Tech (Centric), Brembo, Rotora or whoever...it's an iron disc and has the same heat cycle life within a few %.

I've heard of worn, grooved and rutted OE rotors, but never warped. And no, they don't tend to last long.
Did you track the car on a hot day or something?
Needless to say, I have 38K miles on my OE rotors and pads, and they still stop great and have life left.

I say go with slotted rotors. Hear bad things about drilled rotors since they seem to have hair line cracks around the holes after a while from getting hot to cold. Changed my front brake pads around 36k with hawk pads. Wish I changed the rotors while I was at it since now they are pretty worn. Im at 54k miles now with the original rear pads and they are now starting to make noise. Changing to either stoptech slotted ones here soon.

Is it worth changing all the brake fluid with something better?

Def, I remember cooking the stock fluids one time, and felt like I had no brakes. Im using Amsoil right now, but not quite happy with them might switch to ATE blue next time...

Drilled rotors were obsolete a long time ago after they came out with pads that didnt glaze and gas at high temps. They are strictly for looks now.

Slotted rotors actually have a function of channeling water and brake dust away from the braking area.

Ive never warped a rotor in my life and ive tracked the brakes on this car until they almost didnt work anymore, one trick is to take your foot off the brakes when you stop, it lets the rotor cool evenly.

i might beg to differ that drilled discs are "obsolete"....by a long shot


i've run over a dozen track days on drilled rotors without any issues. not to mention you loose roughly a lb of weight in the discs when it's drilled, which helps both unsprung and rotating mass.

just sayin

Not sure if you're still looking at the originally-posted ebay listing but they don't exactly instill a lot of confidence by not posting the brands of the products they are selling. I checked f2usa.com and the brake lines are supposedly their own, no mention of rotors or pads. So, yeah. You'd have to ask them.

Still on the stock brakes on my MS6 but on my previous car (Miata) I had Goodridge stainless lines, Ate slotted rotors (with the fun atom shaped slots) and Hawk HPS pads. Before putting on the lines I had plain Brembo replacement rotors and Axxis Ultimate pads.

Both sets of pads were dusty as hell but the Axxis were also very noisy, the Hawks much more tolerable. Stopping power and bite was relatively equivalent but the pedal feel was much improved with the newer setup. Not sure if that was the Hawks or the lines but I have a hunch it was the lines.

Ate doesn't make rotors for the MS6 but I'm sure other stuff is fine as well. I had my eye on the StopTechs from therpmstore.com, and a set of Hawk HPS pads given my good experience with them on the Miata.

Ok so for all of you that are interested, I heard back from f2usa today and this is what he said about the rotors:

Idk, that doesn't sound like they are cheap to me at all... But do you think its worth it for the brake lines? Do they improve much?
