What year and model? Is it the recessed touchscreen like the 2014 model or the "toaster oven" style of the newer models?

As for my 2014 I did not see a way to disable the command knob or steering wheel controls from the unit itself.

Agreed there. Since it's simple and easy - check your fuses. If memory serves, there are just 1 or 2 that are audio related. I can't imagine that's the problem, but electrical gremlins being what they are, might as well eliminate this before you go looking at wires and plugs.

Anything else not working? Cabin lights, locking, turn signals, etc?

 

It cannot be deactivated. It went to crap. Was this car bought new? Was it bought with precertified?

If neither, then you are out of luck. If it was new or precertified, you could at least bother the deal and maybe get it fixed for free

 

Talked to the dealer and since it's only the audio controls on the steering wheel (the answer/hang up, voice command, and cruise control functions all work) and the commander knob controls the audio system they said it's likely a software update.


I'm still wondering if that's the case since I've done NOTHING, but who the hell knows.


It's not a major inconvenience, not having steering wheel controls for the audio kinda sucks, but i'll just wait until the dealer gets the rear caliper parts in and will kill 2 birds w/ one stone.

 

Not to hijack this thread but I wonder how did this end up? Similar issue just happened to my wife's 2014 iTouring. The command control knob just went dead. I dont know for how long it's been like this, but I picked the car up from the service after they worked on rear brake recall and noticed that the thing is not functioning. Looks like we have to take it back to the service. But I was wondering what your service guy said?
