Car making knocking noises underneath?

When my car is at a stop and i start to accelerate, i hear knocking/creaking noises coming from underneath front of the vehicle. It seems to happen whenever i brake slowly to a complete stop. Then when i take off again slowly, i hear a knock, knock knock until i reach 15-20mph. At higher speeds, there is no sound whatsoever.

Can someone please help me diagnose what could be the cause of this problem?

BUMP? anyone?
my friend tells me the pads are sticking to the rotors and its making creaking sounds when i come to a stop or accelerate from a stop.

do the knocks start out slow and get progressively faster before they eventually disappear at 15-20mph?[/b]
yes. it almost sounds like my brakes are sticking. and as soon as i step off the brakes the pads slowly separate from the rotors.
also sometimes when i brake slightly hard and come to a complete stop slowly i hear the same sounds.

its a pretty annoying sound.. the sound of disappointment. i just paid for a 15k mile service 1week prior to this!

My 03 6S does the same thing, when I accelerate quickly from a stop I hear a single deep clunk from the front, feels like suspension or brakes somehow.

The brakes are not terribly worn, so I'm not sure what it is but I'd like to know.

Any tips are appreciated!

Cheers

My car just started doing this about 2 days ago and its driving me nuts. Im gonna plan a check up on thursday and see what the mechs say about it.[/b]
my car has done this the past 2 winters - massive creaking sounds... just when it's cold

I think it may be one of the bushings between the engine/frame... doesn't RPM make a replacement part?

Mr. H15A5H1, it's hard to say what's causing your problem. First and foremost, figure out what sort of work the shop did during the 15K service you had. Call them up and inquire about why they think your car is making noises all of a sudden. It might be something simple that they can quickly resolve for you. Otherwise it could be any number of different causes.

I kind of doubt that the caliper is at fault for the noise. I also doubt the brake pads are at fault either. A loose brake pad typically does not make noise repeatedly. It's more like one distinct knock when you step on/release the brake pedal. Or when reversing brake direction - like parallel parking. At least in my experience.

The creaking sounds that Toadster mentions is most likely the strut seals. My car has always done that in extreme cold weather. It goes away after the strut has been compressed a few times. Nothing to worry about IMO.

This seems to be a commen problem because mine is doing the same starting a week or two ago. Its this clunking noise with a squeek, it happens while turning or at slow speeds, after about 30 mph it disapears....[/b]
YUP, that's the sound... maybe we just can't hear it above 30mph ;)

I am going to have a garage take a look at it... hoping nothing is broken or cracked (or blown seal)
