Hi everyone,
I've never owned a Mazda before, but I picked up this ridiculously clean 2003 6S for $1200 the other day, 139k on the clock and a knocking 3.0L engine. I've already done my research and read everything in this thread and the other links inside it:
V6 Engine Replacement Guide
My question is, if I can't find a good 06+ Fusion engine as a candidate, can I take an 03-05 Taurus engine (non-VVT) and swap the VVT cams, valve covers, etc. from my Mazda engine into that?
I've read through this article as well on the differences between all the Duractec 3.0L versions (Duratec 30/Mazda AJ6), etc. Rebuilding the Ford 3.0L
and it seems like the later model 03+ Taurus engines came with the head modifications to accept VVT but just didn't have the hardware like cams and VVT solenoids.
