Ok.. i'm kinda new to taking care of my car so.. my first question is: what is a claybar and what does it do?

Next, I recently noticed that my 6s has been getting little scratches everywhere after washing because of all the dust that gets on it. Sometimes there are little white scratches that can be seen really clearly since my car is black. Anything I can do to make them less noticeable? and is what is the best way to clean my car. It's only 3 weeks old... i dont want to hurt it anymore!!

FIrst, claybar is a clay product used to remove bonded contaminents from your paint and leave a super smooth finish before waxing/polishing..

As for the scratches. How are you washing your car? You should first and foremost use an actual carwash concentrate, not dish detergent or anything else. Next, use a high quality wash mitt, Lambs wool is best. Rinse the car with a heavy stream of water starting with the roof and working down. When washing, first only wash to the body-side molding and to the top of the bumpers because the bulk of the dirt, especially after rain will collect on the lower rocker panels. Wait and wash these areas last, preferably with a seperate mitt. Use a seperate mitt or brush for the wheels. Keep the car wet and rinse the wash mit is it gets dirty. Also use a good chamois or The Absorber to dry. If you have been going to the pay-n-spray, stop! Wash it by hand or else you will always see some minor scatches from the crappy brushes they have there.

A coat (or more) of a high-quality wax/polish will protect the paint from the elements. Zaino, LiquidGlass, and Klasse are favorites of the people here.

hmm ok thanks!! O btw i was using carwash concentrate :D

It's because I go to school in Riverside and i live there for the week. It's sooo dirty over there so my car gets this layer of dirt on it from just being in the parking lot. And whenever I try to rinse the car the dirt doesn't come off. I practically did what you said but i think the scratches are mostly from the dirt that's just won't rinse off. hmm I HAD lambs wool.. but i lost it. I use bathtowels hehe.

I'll try the wax and polish :) Never tried it before i hope i do it right

Thanks again!

bathtowels to wash could be bad news and the cause of your scratches... get a lambs wool mitt, you can get one anywhere. They do a lot to move the dirt away from the surface as you clean your car. Read throught the posts here and on www.autopia.com to get some good ideas how to clean your car... have fun!

Yea, bath towels are a bad idea for washing. They collect the dirt on the surface and cause scratches as you experienced. The lambs wool mitt has a long enough nap to pull dirt into it and not scratch your paint.

Dude, don't just TRY waxing or polishing it, DO it regularly. It's the only way to maintain
the finish. I've got the black too and use Meguiar's Carnuaba Wax after polishing. Polishing is not always necessary but waxing is a must. You should do it monthly or
at least 3 times every six months. Try searching this forum for info on the different wax products.
