It's the infamous 'cluch dust in the starter' sound. It starts when it gets cold, but eventually you'll have it everytime. It's "normal" in that virtually every single Mazda6s MTX will get it.

You can take it in, and they'll replace the starter, but you'll just get the sound again later on. There really isn't any measurable damage going on. I've had the sound for over 30,000 miles without the slightest problem.

It won't hurt. But you'll get it again, and then you'll have to go through the process again. Eventually they might get tired of doing it for you. I had my dealership make a note that I have the problem now but I'm not having them fix it. I'm going to do mine before the warranty runs out and/or just before I sell the car.
