Steeda's Throttle Body Spacer

I don't think anyone has. For only $80, it wouldn't kill someone to try it either. The only poblem I see is that my Intake is already right up against the battery so spacing it out may not be the best thing, but they say it works. I can't believe Steeda never thought to Market it directly to us.

If I had it right now, that'd be nice, since I have my throttle body off already... :p




Not meaning to Hijack this thread, but does anyone know the model number for the "bad" TB? that was replaced with the TSB... I just wanted to check and see if mine was since its off.. if you can point me to a link that'd be great... I can't seem to find it.

I hope it's not like those tornado throttle body spacer that was advertise before and it just end up a useless paper weight with no proven gains. :nono:

If I understand correctly by what I read on the item description,it is basically adding plenum volume to the intake.So in essence it could add more torque.

Sounds like the same typ eof thing as a carburetor spacer... probably has the same type of affect... I would assume..

Ic, it's creating that swirling volume of air that increases volume. If it's creating pressure, then it might add extra giddiyaps I would say. The swirling is probably creating better air fuel mixture and it helps getting better gas millage.

If that is the case,then we could see some small gains at the tires.If it picks up 3 or 4 whp I would be ok with that.[/b]
I've spent more for less.. :p of course, I would want to see gains first.. at least my magnaflows make noise ;)

I just wonder how far back it would push my CAI.... not that that couldnt be fixed.

I have emailed them to see how thick this TB spacer is and if it has been dyno tested at all for proven benefits.For $80,I buy it to try out if it will fit.[/b]
It says on their site that it fits, from what i can see but the HP increase does have me wondering. Usually turbulence in the air is a bad thing, so I am a bit confused...

Not exactly,it is extending the neck of the manifold behing the TB and in essence making the upper intake have a longer runner.Long runners=torque.Now I am very curious as to how this will work with the EGR tube modification.

That is the exact question I am waiting for an answer from Steeda on.

The air swirler messes up air flow in that tornado POS. The only time swirling air will flow faster is if there is something else flowing the other way, IE water. You never see water swirling out from a garden hose for more volume.

did a quick google and it says throttle body spacers are a waste of money.... on the same level as the tornado fuel saver. the fact that there is alot of skeptism probably means it doesn't work. for example, there's no skeptism on intakes and headers.

I didn't see anything about throttle body spacers in that link?

Aren't most spacers smooth on the inside, unlike this one from Steeda?

edit: I ran across a Jeep forum where they said TBS's didn't do anythng for their engines... but that's just one vehicle.

A tb spacer is not like a tornado fuel saver or should even be compared to one,your article from popular mechanics points out the gimmics sold in the back of magazines and on ebay.This Tb spacer is very similar to the carb spacers used on old muscle cars to give a little more torque on the bottom end of the power band,and they did help atomize fuel in a dual plane intake manifold.I would gamble,that this may work on our cars.

Lots of skeptics on the web over it... reminds me of that throttle body grounding people argued about a while ago.

Those things may work on old carbureted engines, but last I checked we are using fuel injected engines.
