I know the factory system isn't that great on the low end. I always am hesitant to listen to heavy bass too loud. I usually listen to newer music at 15-17 level with bass at 4 or so...Has anyone really pushed it to the point of blowing the factory speakers? I get nervous when it really starts thumping.... but maybe I shouldn't be that concerned, and should just crank it... any comments are appreciated...

Have any minor mods been used by anyone to improve sound quality?

Thanks,

How to: get more bass from factory Bose subwoofer
clicky-clicky

I blew my driver door mounted tweeter not long after I got the car. So fucking annoying. I usually don't crank it all that loud either.

I listen to mine at 23 all the time. I have the bass at -1 and treble at max, but that's with the bose sub DIY amp and an aftermarket sub and amp in the trunk. Haven't blown anything yet. 23 seems to be the max before it starts distorting and really playing havoc on all the levels.

You guys listen to yours at 15 or louder? That is loud as hell. The most I ever put mine up to is 11 on the highway, and even then it is a bit loud. Though I have never really been into the whole playing loud music in the car thing.

my miata had the door tweeters die rather quickly, and i dont think the stock sub in my speed6 is going to last much longer

I've got completely factory sound system with the exception of deleted factory sub, 1000 watt RMS amp and 2 Kicker L7S12s.. If I'm really jamming with the windows down and going about 40 - 60mph I have the ALC to 1, Bass -2, Treble +6, No front/Rear/Side bias, and the volume about 25.

I'm a REALLY big sound guy, I love sound quality.. While I hear people cry about the factory Bose system, I actually think it sounds damn good. I have my amp probably pushing 500RMS per driver so its not just crappy sound being overpowered by bass.. Nothing rattles, it sounds just as good outside as inside the car.

Had mine up to 30 the other day during one song, sounded fine to me.

I was surprised to say the least.

Usually I have it between 15-20

MAX CONSTANTLY. jk.. but I have had it on max at a isolated park to listen to some music with some friends.. included high pitch relaxing music and low bass music. I also have a cheap kicker sub/amp in the trunk (it was free...) I listen to 15 on highway with windows down. .and 9-12 windows up.

Settings MAX ALC. +4 Bass. +5 Trebble. Rear 2

I don't think I ever go above 11. If I have the windows down, sometimes I'll just turn it off, or down to 8 for when I am stopped at a light. I like to make the music... with my right foot.

Wow, I can't believe how loud some people have pushed this stereo. I have the 808 pre/EQ mod tweaked to boost slightly at the low EQ point 30Hz, flat at 60 Hz, and the overall gain set to boost the signal to the sub slightly. With that tuned in, I don't feel comfortable going past 12 with bass heavy material. If the recording isn't too hot in the low freq, I might get up to 14 at the most, and then not for long.

umm +4 bass?... wow.. talk about distortion.

I have an aftermarket sub setup with the stock bose speakers and stock sub disconnected.

Normally on the highway i stay around 25 with ALC at 3 and 28 with ALC at 2.

bass is -3, treble is +4.

I listen to everything from hip hop to rap to country to frank sinatra.

All sounds great on the same settings
