I just came home after spending 1-1/2 hours at the oil change shop, draining and refilling the MT fluid on the V6.
Even the service station guys were pondering how to access the drain and refill plugs.
Mazda has literally squeezed the V6 in a bay designed for a much smaller 4 cylinder engine.
The technician had to make use of a 2 feet long extension with universal coupling to remove the fill plug. The drain plug is pretty easy, on the other hand.
We then attached a 12mm dia x 18" long flexible plastic hose at the end of the 'long' standard transmission fluid funnel using black vinyl tape, to prevent fluid leakage at the joint. This "equipment" was then snaked from between the battery and the engine to reach the fill plug.
We refilled the gearbox using 2.5 qts of Redline MT-90 fluid.
Note: Owners manual states 2.4qts.
Driving/impressions after the fill:
Initial impression: Gearshift Slides too easy compared to the standard fluid. Could it be because it is new fluid and nothing to do with the fact that it is Redline?
I will post Detailed shifting impression after a couple of days of driving and looking at the nuances.
