I have an Edge Evolution Programmer in my F150 screw, which I've noticed is the exact same case design as the dashhawk device. Obviously there is some connection there. So I have a question that I'd like you guys to answer or comment on. Would I be able to use the Edge Programmer from my F150 to function as a dashhawk in my MS6? In other words, are they using the same ODBII comm. protocol so that the device can read more than just the target vehicle?

I do understand that I wouldn't be able to use it to program my MS6. I'm only interested in reading the vehicle params and possibly using it to read CEL's and delete them....

So do you think its worth a try or is it too risky on causing damage to the car or programmer?

While OBD is a standard, the only thing standard is the way the CELs are handled. You should be able to read and clear CELs with pretty much any OBDII device as long as it has CAN support. In my opinion this is the only thing you can expect from using the Edge, anything on top of that is pure gravy.

Good luck!

Thank you for the response! I'm going to try it this evening.

While I don't know that it necessarily applies to your situation, but HPTuners is beginning to support Ford products(mostly 05+ trucks/Mustangs) and asked people to check and see if the hardware and latest software update would connect to the VCM in their Fords. While it wouldn't talk to my Marauder, it would connect with the Speed6 and download an infolog. It wouldn't read the VCM, but at least it would locate it and capture some info.
That would be absolutely the answer if HPT would support these cars, they're pretty much the way to go for tuning LSx GM's, worlds better than a simple handheld.
