Powertrain Control Module fault. ?

For the past few weeks the engine light has been coming on only when I first start the car. Within 15 or so seconds before I drive off. My cheap scanner Innova 5110 didn't detect anything, but lets me reset the light and it won't come back on again for a few days. I bought a more capable scanner and it shows a Powertrain Control Module error or fault.
Is the module itself dying?
2014 Mazda 6 just crossed the 200K barrier.

It could be an issue with a wire or the plug connected to the PCM that needs attention. It may be a bit of corrosion or the plug might be a bit loose. Check those things before anything else.

Also, is this PCM also called the ECM/ECU? I've read they are the same thing, but sometimes they are different. ??
If I were to buy a different PCM/ECM/ECU I'd likely have to go to the stealership and have them reprogram my key fob yes?
