Did they place it on the door 6.5 speaker or is it on the inline wire feeding the tweeter. ? Thanks

I believe it's inline. I'll check right quick.

You can see it on the bottom of the mounts right next to the tweeter.

Thanks Riki for taking the time to do this.
Just made up the rca's today , pulled out the existing amp to check out the wiring harness as per the posted wiring connection diagram.
Plan is to change out amp and 4 door speakers this weekend .
Still have not decided what to do with the tweeters being the new door speakers are 4 ohm ( suggestions ? )
I will likely use a small sub box in the rear for now until i decide on a more permanent location.

No problem. It only took 5 minutes to rip the door off and take the pictures. The hardest part was uploading them haha.

I would play with tweeters to see how it sounds when you replace the speakers. Leave them in at first but if they are too bright from the extra power I would disconnect them and see how that sounds. You may be happy running without the tweets.

I just finished building a new sub box and changing around my trunk. I lost like 40 lbs switching from two 10s to one and MDF to birch. It'll be interesting to see how the car handles the extra drain from the amp going from 4 ohms to 2. Have fun with your build.

I second trying them at first, and trying them disconnected also. You can always attenuate the tweeters also with some resistors if you like them playing but find they are too loud. You'd put a pair right behind the tweeter (or down by the speaker, doesn't matter) on each side, there are calculators online, the keyword is L-pad.

I'm sure you'll figure it out and have a ball doing it :)

So with buddy help and beer for enticement I hooked up my 5 ch Alpine amp and the 4 door speakers last nite .
The front Bostons sound great , the rear 5.25 JbL's not so good ,they will need to go. Both have a rattle at half volume.

Now that I can see what I am dealing with I will likely take advantage of the cut outs and go to an efficient rear set of 6x8's, Suggestions ?

You guy's are right , the tweeters are too bright and I will have to put some resistance In to tone them down a bit. Or just just change them out to new 4 ohm . Open to suggestions on this as well.

If someone could point me in the right direction as to resistor Links / posts on the board it would be most appreciated .

Thanks to all the posting contributors on this board who provided the wiring diagrams and tips that enabled me to even attempt this Bose mod .

The rattle is very hard to get rid of. I have close to 120 sq ft of damplifier on the doors, trunk lid, and rear deck and there are still some rattles. My dream is having fiberglass door panels made to replace the plastic panels.

Try running without the JBLs in the rear, see how that sounds. I have my fade turned all the way to the front because I like the sound to be up in front of me and I can't hear the rear speakers anyway because of the sub.

lots of great 6x9's out there I'm sure. Here's a fun choice I'd try if I were in your place:

Tang Band W69-1042J 6"x9" Subwoofer

The keyword search for "the resistor thing" is L-pad. You'll add two resistors in an L shape in there so the load stays 2 ohms but the power to the tweeter drops.

Here's a resource for you:

L-PADS

You can ignore the slider stuff at the top. The diagram is closer to the bottom with the calculator. For attenuation, 3 dB would be halving the power. so you can try 1.5 or 3 or 6 dB or whatever you want, I'm sure if you just guess how much attenuation you need you'll get at least in the ballpark if it's not about where you like it well enough.

I ordered a matching set of Boston 6x8 for the rear's and a shallow mount 10 " pioneer sub woofer that I will try to mount in the Wagons spare tire well.
Thanks for the Lpad info. Wondering if i can just mount a variable resistor/ small volume control right beside the tweeter to gain some control over it ?
I envy you guys In California , The prices you are paying for audio stuff is super cheap In comparison to what we In the great white north are being hosed into paying. Even with shipping duty and taxes gear is worth 30 % less.
