Recently I bought a new Mazda 6i 2.3L and I'm looking to add some horsepower to this baby. Whats the best way to do this? I've considered performance mod chips and possibly an Ingen air intake system. Any recommendations?

To get more power from exhaust mods try opening up these restriction areas:

Just opening these up makes a nice difference in the high RPMs where it now pulls progressively stronger right up till the fuel cutoff.

The mufflers, resonator and cat are all stock, but all the pipes and connections between sections have been optimized. As is, it's a little deeper and just slightly louder than a completely stock setup.Originally posted by sixme@Nov 17 2005, 11:40 PM
TwoWheelin-
What type of exhaust are you running and whats it sound like? I replaced my midsection with 2.5 inch piping and changed tips but am trying to figure out what to do with the mufflers.

The V6 is very different in the front where the headers, pre-cats and cats are. From the resonator flange on back, I believe it's the same system. There are diagrams of the V6 system posted in engine/drivetrain section. Can v6 do this mod?? I think the system is somewhat different.
It looks rather ricey.Originally posted by KevinK2@Nov 18 2005, 01:55 PM
Wait untill a few have installed these:
electric supercharger, 15s shot

Electric superchargers are not "ricey". They work and work well for their given purpose. Correctly set-up they offer reliable forced induction that is fine for day-to-day driving and gives a moderate power increase for a reasonable pricepoint.Originally posted by Faz105@Nov 21 2005, 12:19 AM

We should have a thread called 'Rice Mods', a collection of the riciest mods ever made on a car (Mazda6 or otherwise)Â
...and this thread started with a guy just wanting to find out the easiest way to get HP on the 4 cylinder
