2.2D Sport Skyactiv Saloon here. 80K miles/Full service history and routinely serviced. Mainly motorway miles travelling an hour plus to/from work 4days a week and sometimes a bit of town driving.
I am aware there are a load of DPF posts surrounding this car but having read through them all I haven't come across one which relates to my situation as such.
So far I can't fault it, hasn't skipped a beat until the DPF light. I noticed that my average MPG dropped from 55-60mpg to 45ish mpg roughly. I know its not a huge loss but it hinted that something wasn't right. Fast forward a week later and the DPF light litup, whilst driving, I was about 150 miles into a 550 mile journey at the time (perks of living in the upper reaches of Scotland). I noticed no change in the driving of the car besides the drop in MPG, i had the cruise on at 75mph but the car was laden with suitcases etc. So this could be a contributing factor. Also it wasn't viable to put the car to a garage etc during this time so the round trip was carried out (1000+ miles) but I made sure to give it a good blast a couple times in 4th/5th gear at 70mph to try and clear out the DPF. I realise this probably wasn't the best thing to do but had to be done unfortunately.
I stuck a Launch Code Reader on it once I was home, and it returned the code; P243C:00-2F - Particulate Filter Regeneration Frequency (Bank 2).
I have done some digging and found that it could be a few things according to the Mazda Manuals:
My question is how serious is this? And would a carbon clean and and DPF clean resolve this issue or is it something deeper and more sinister, such as the injectors i have read about? My knowledge on cars is pretty limited but I am learning and trying more and more myself.
