Hello mazda club, I currently drive a 2007 mazda 6 i and was looking to trade it in for a 06 speed6 sport. I was looking at it earlier today and saw a few problems with it and was wondering if its covered under warranty or not, the rear axle seals are leaking causing a big mess over the rear diff, also noticed the inter-cooler pipe (below the blow-off valve) is soaked with oil, maby a common problem with the speed 6? Also noticed the clutch feels a little hard but i Know theres a tsb about lubricating it just wondering if warranty is going to cover all of this. One again car has 39k on it and is an 06. Thanks :)

Grab the VIN# and Call 1-800-222-5500 (Mazda USA) to see if the car is black listed and/or if the warranty is still valid.

What is the selling price?

I paid 15,800 for my car with 49k on it. I made up some excuse to get my car checked out fully with the local Mazda dealership before the 50k warranty.

I was hunting for a new car and saw and read about a speed for 2 days and found one locally and hopped on it within 15 min of finding it. They go very very quick around here. I would have to say i love it to death. I wouldn't have it any other way for the price. I already have a 94 GT with a V8, and a Kawasaki Z1000 but the fun factor of the speed is just flat out FUN AS SH*T. It puts a smile on my face everyday i drive it. If i want to get my internal speed demon on i can hop on the bike and have fun.

13.5 isn't bad. More like, point out the issues you noted to the seller, and work it down to 12-something thousand.

I doubt it's still under warranty, though it's possible. Mine still is for another 2 months. But, mine sat on the lot for a while, as I was a late buyer.

Work a deal and then fix the problems yourself. The leaking output shaft seals aren't an overly huge project.
The oil may just be from oil vapor that's recirculated through the system by emission control functions that has just condensed on the walls of the intake tract.

Performance gain alone is enough to buy the car.

I have an 07 SPD6 Sport that’s in for warranty work right now(leaking front diff and steering clunk). The car has 24K miles on it and that’s the only time the car has been in.
My rental is an 08 6i and I hate the car. First it’s a 4cyl with an auto. It has a little bit of power but not until you hit 4-5k rpm. On the freeway, any little press on the gas makes the car downshift which takes a second and then it starts going. The handling is scary to say the least. It’s somewhat comfortable at freeway speeds due to the soft suspension, but that’s about it.(sorry for the rant, but I really miss my car).
The SPD 6 you are looking at sounds like it has a few issues. I agree with Groceries that you should find out the cost to fix the problems, work out a deal and try to fix what you can yourself. Drive the car and see if you like it. I personally love my car and there’s really nothing out there that I’d rather have for a daily driver(especially with MN winter coming up) that doesn’t cost a fortune.

I'm currently trying to decide between an 04 6S manual GT hatch with 75k for around $10k and an 06 speed6 GT with 60k for around $14k. Not sure I really want to put in an extra $4k. That's a lot of money to spend on other fun vs. a really fun car. I feel the pain of your decision.

lets see. A fwd car with 75k or a Turbo AWD with 60k miles for only $4k more. hmmmmm Go for the speed. You wont be disappointed. Unless you are 18 and you will want to kill yourself when you see the insurance.

Lol, 31, coming from a 95 prelude (non-vtec). Live in minneapolis, so I only use the car to commute 20 miles out to the suburbs. I walk/bike most of the weekend. $4k buys a set of snow tires, a winter kiteboarding kite (1k), a possible ski vacation in the alps this year with a little left over for hookers and blow ;). Currently I'm leaning towards the 6S, but that depends on how whether the dealer will come down in price. He's asking way too much and if it's a smaller difference, I'm going with the speed no questions asked.

The clutch TSB actually consists of them removing pretty much everything except the flywheel, throwing it out, and replacing it with the 07 clutch. I had test drove an 07' which sold before I went back a few days later (wasn't white anyways, lol), but I bought an 06' from another dealer a couple weeks later. I had no clue they totally redesigned the clutch. I hadn't driven a clutch in years, and the 07' was like butter. The 06 was like my the race clutch in my buddy's 1984 Camaro.

Anyways, I got the clutch TSB done, under warranty, after finding out about here on 6club. However, I had to fight tooth and nail to get it done. At first the pricks were making like the TSB didn't exist until I rattled the TSB and my vin number off. Then he was saying "that only applies to the fist year/12K miles of the car." I was like, I just bought the damn thing from a Mazda dealership.... I think it's only bc I bitched about dropping (too many $) for a 7yr/100K mile btb warranty that they finally did it. I talked to one of the techs there, and he said that dealerships don't like to do the clutch TSB because Mazda pays them LESS in hrs than it actually takes for them to fix it. So, while my car was being 'fixed' they missed out on some lucrative brake jobs and other crap.

Just saying, if you hated that clutch, buy an 07', or an 06 that has the TSB done. You should go test drive an 07' MS6 just to see the difference. It's huge.

No you're not asshole. You specialize in it.
Oh yeah, Hi Mars!!!!!!!!!!!
Ignore that comment... that was the remnants of some bickering elsewhere on here that unfortunately spilled into this thread. They have been PM'd and I'm sure they will behave themselves in the future. Sorry OP for the distraction.

Yeah, I was on 'mod probation' up until the other day. So, they stuck that premium member title in there in the meantime. I'm still trying to get rid of it, and just keep the mod title. I didn't gain any superpowers along with the new title though :(. Go-go-gadget 3rd leg.... D'oh! lol
