OK, here's where I'm sitting on this:

My wife and I each bought a new car this summer. I bought a 6 wagon with 17s, she bought a 5 GT with 17s. She is more than happy with her stock wheels, and will likely never upgrade, I'm considering it for the spring.

For her car, I'm planning to get 16" steelies with Michelin X-Ice tires. Total cost: $940 Cdn plus tax.

For my car, I was thinking of making the stock 6 17" wheel my winter wheels and run Michelin X-Ice. Total cost: $680 for 4 tires. In the spring, I'll sell the stock 17" Michelin Pilots and get a set of 18s and new tires.

All told, I'm looking at about $1,600 plus tax and mounting/balancing.

Would I be better off spending more now and getting 16" steelies for both cars, and then selling my 17" wheels and tires as a package in the spring? If I get two sets of 16s, I'm looking at about $2,000, so I can save about $400 now and I'll likely make about $200 selling the stockers in the spring, so that would be about $5-600 to put towards a new wheel package in April.

Thoughts?

Thanks.
