So my dumbass last night left the front windows down a good 4 inches and thanks to this unpredictable Virginia weather we had a downpour and now my interior got pretty wet. I'm having issues with the driver and possibly the passenger side window switches. This morning none of the switches worked. I couldn't even roll the windows through the doors or the driver switches themselves. It seems like it's been getting better since the driver side window works. The rear windows do work now, but intermittently. While going up or down they cut themselves off. The passenger side still doesn't work at all through both switches.

I hope the rain didn't screw anything up. I really don't think so since they have began to work... slowly. So my question is, how do I get to the switches? I'm a little nervous about pulling my door panel out if I have to. I would rather know how to more or less do it, than to dive right into it and screw something up. I would like to pull the switches apart and hit them with a blow dryer and hopefully fix it. Thanks!

I've pulled them out before...
That gray piece of plastic trim is just tabbed onto the door panel. It should just pry upward. Then, the switches themselves are attached to that trim piece, with a connector that you can pull apart to get the trim and switches fully separated from the door panel. Get a pry tool so you don't scratch up that stuff! It's easy to scratch!

Hold up. I was wrong. The door trim does need to be removed. The switches screw into the bottom of the door trim, which I guess is not removeable? That's retarded. My memory is bad. I've had the entire door panel and trim apart before, trying to fix my power side mirror. It's a PITA to get it all apart.

i have done this about 24 times in about 8 times. i get real lazy once i pull in the driveway and i live in a good neighborhood so i leave my shit unlocked and windows down all the time.

the window switch issues will resolve itself once it's dry, if it doesn't then you just open them up and dry them out and your all good.

yeah, switches are just wet, and you should stop trying to use them till they dry- they aren't working because the water is causing a short in the circuit.

THe door panels all but fall off the door by them selves, so if you need em dry NOW, pull the panel from the door, the switch(s) from the panel(s) and dissassemble, then clean/dry

easy peasy

I'm going to be taking apart my drivers door as my damn window is coming off track now, making weird noises. Maybe I'll do a writeup/howto since this seems to be happening to more and more people.. (clanking as it hits the top is the start of it, then the shit just gets worse).

Take a blow dryer and hold it to the switches, on say a medium/low heat, making sure you don't melt anything. I would recommend just taking the switches out and let dry though, keep yur windows up for a couple days.

OK E.M.S. was right. It looks like they're fixing themselves. This morning my front ones are working, but my rears are still acting funny. Looks like I got some good amount of water in there. So I ended up taking my door panels apart to get to the switches. It wasn't as bad as I though it would be. I did what cfdp mentioned blow drying them and now they work like a charm. Thanks once again for the info fellas. I hope this spell of fail in my car stops because I'm low on cash.

Sooo...how the fuck do you get the switches out? I feel like a retard cause I've done it before. My memory fails me, and the WSM is not very clear.

I remember there was a funky looking tab that I removed, from there it required some weaseling to pull it out. I don't have a WSM so I had to use an exploded parts chart, lol.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that it was my neighbor that actually pulled them out when we were taking the door apart.

Woulda been nice if somebody had taken pics of that when they removed the door panel, huh? Especially since they took about a million pics of everything BUT THE WINDOW SWITCHES.......
