wooo hooo!! Congrats on joining the ranks.. soon! Isn't that white film used for protection from the sun when they anticipate the car to sit out for awhile before being bought?

Arrived at port? Is that a generic term? If your car is built in MI then I would think it would be transported by train/truck, not ship.

It reduces the chance of scratches and protects the paint from fluid drips while being being transported.

That includes acid rain. So prevalent in many places now.
