Who?s the sexiest of them all? Ford Fusion vs. Mazda6

It's Detroit, so you know who wins. But, as someone who lives in Metro Detroit, I can tell you that there are 100's of Fusions for every 6 on the road around here. So the Mazda's definitely turn more heads.

Clearly the Detroit News hasn't seen the rest of the WORLDWIDE reviews stating that the Mazda far surpasses the Fusion in pretty much every possible category haha.

Arguably the fusion has a better face and butt, but it still looks like a cheap family sedan because it has no rear haunches at the rear wheels. It is slab sided, as dictated by design requirements for interior space. That's why it always looks worse in person. It has no presence. The mazda 6 however holds your attention with both it's lines and its proportions.

The Fusion looks nice but not as nice as the 6. And there are too many Fusions out there.

It really depends on the right year, and the right trim level. Cause a base model 6 looks very Meh, as does a base level fusion.

Apparently they didn't push and engage the kick down switch or use sport mode. I have not noticed any hesitation at all when stomping on the accelerator.

Funny say that. Same exact thing here. I had been wanting a fusion for months. Set out that day looking to buy a fusion. Stopped by a mazda dealership first cuz it was on the way to the Ford dealer and well...nuff said i guess .

the fusion is a rebadged mazda 6 with fords own sheetmetal and a shitty little turbocharged 4 cylinder. just about the furthest thing from "made in detroit."

Honestly those Fusions look amazing. I always turn my head to look at those, especially the red ones. My boss drives one, and they are SUPER nice inside, and have a lot of really nice features. And of course, the gas mileage!

But at the end of the day it's still a Ford, so I would never buy one. I want Japanese reliability. And the 6 is probably about equal to the Fusion in terms of looks, and still very luxurious. I couldn't tell you how many times my boss had to bring her Fusion into the dealership for warranty repairs, and always for electronic stuff. One time because the charging cable broke (in the first year of owning it, too).

As far as sexy goes, I might just give it to the Fusion. Though it would depend on the day.

I know this thread is old but I work in the marketing department for an auto chain that includes a Ford dealership, and I have never, EVER heard anyone refer to the Fusion as "sexy." I think it's a perfectly fine looking and respectable car, but sexy? Nah. I'd consider it more of an old person's car, although not so much as the Taurus. I'm sad to see them go, honestly.

It was true about 30 years ago if you exclude Korean cars. Now its not the case. Ford in particular is doing a fantastic job while Toyota and Honda have dropped the ball.
