Used the search button to see if this topic had been discussed elsewhere. I have worn out the batteries in both keyless entry remotes (base remotes for 2004 6s; not those "newfangled magic type" ones that come with the Mazdaspeed 6).

Is it just a matter of popping it open and replacing the battery, or do you have to take the remote to be reprogrammed afterward.

Yup, just pops open. There should be a section of the key thats a little recessed along the seam, insert screw driver and pry apart. Or you can just throw them on the ground, that usually gets it apart :)
