Ok, this has probably been asked a million times but what size tire would you guys recommend on an 18x8 48mm offset rims? I was looking at some 235/40s but will I run into any rubbing issues. I'm currently at stock height in my 5dr hatch.

I was running a set of 18x7.5 42mm offset rims with 225/40s but I want to go a little bigger. My wife bent the last set on potholes.

They did rub a bit when I hit bumps with the back loaded. I'm thinking the added offset will let them clear a bit better.

I run 18X8 wheels on a 225/45 18, stock height. No rubbing. And speedometer is off by very little if any. Maybe .9%. But now I'm running a +60 offset on my wheels though. But I understand that with a +48 and that tire size you should have very little rubbing issues.

At stock height, you'll only run into issues with weight in the rear. However, with the 235s, you likely will rub.

With an 18x8 +45 and a 225/40, I rubbed slightly without a fender roll with weight in the back/once I was dropped. If you're alright with rolling your fenders ever so slightly, then you've got nothing to worry about.

I'm running 225/45/18 on my car. It's a 18x7.5" wheel.

225/40/18 is a little smaller than stock. 225/45/18, as mentioned, is a little larger than stock. Both are acceptable.

I've been running the 45 series tire for exactly the reason you want, more sidewall height.

I do still have the 225/40s. Maybe I'll have to get the wheels first and have the old tires put on them. The way they fit with the 42mm 18x7.5s, my guess is they'll clear perfectly with the 18x8 48mm rims. I just wonder how the 235s would do.
I did pound on the fender lip with a rubber mallet when the original ones rubbed a bit.:D
