So I recently bought an 06 Mazdaspeed6 and the wheels were painted a butt ugly color. The best way I could describe it is bronze with a green pearlescent which looks quite awful on my black cherry mica. Along with the paint chipping and them being curb rashed to hell my wheels are looking musty.

My plan was to get all the old paint off, do what I can to repair curb rash, then repaint. I’m just not sure on color. I’m mostly between black and white (I somewhat lean towards black because the car has a swapped black hood and I figured it would look a bit cleaner since it matches)

Either way I’d appreciate any advice

  1. Those rims are in rough shape and that color is baaaaad.
  2. Is that a storm purple speed6? Looks like it to me but want to make sure it's not the black and the photo is making it look different.
  3. You can go with Black, White, or even a proper bronze and it would look great TBH.
  4. I did a little writup on a quick DIY rim refinishing process here if you're curious: Byakuya's 2014 Grand Touring Shiro Shinobi (see next couple comments too)

Those are RX-8 wheels and dont look right on a 6 let alone an MS. For the price of refinishing those or any wheels properly, you might as well buy new ones from Tire Rack or other reputable wheels sites. Stay away from TireAgent.com

I agree, I'm not a huge fan of how they look on the car either. I don't think I'd have to 100% restore them for them to be refreshed a good bit though and that'd sure be a whole lot cheaper than new ones entirely. I'm alright with changing them somewhere later along the line.

Youre looking $100-150 each to fix and powdercoat.
