I am planning to remove my Tannabe NR's and put my original OEM springs back on the 04 6s 5 door. My question to anyone who might know is what good performance shock / strut would work well with them ? Any suggestions ? Thanks!

KYB GR2s for the stock springs would be perfectly fine.
I rode Bilsteins HD with stock springs and the ride was very over damped. Plus the Bilsteins are high pressure gas shocks, they provide an assisted lift, and the front end of my car went up an 1"

I have Bilsteins on order , I guess I will give them a shot . When you say overdamped do you mean that the ride is stiffer or that the car sits higher than you like ? Can you explain ? Thanks !

1) The front end will sit higher
2) Well, if you have a worn out shock, you know that the car will bounce a lot, be very floaty, going over a bump. The shock is suppose to slow down the movement of the spring and bring it back to rest. If you have a very firm shock, the spring/car will regain its compsure much quicker.

The best way I can describe my brief experience with Bilsteins on stock springs... It felt like I was riding in my friend's 2004 E55 AMG with the air suspension. Very firm, very stable, but very little road feel. Like the car is just gliding down the road.

If you find that you're somewhat disgusted with the look of your car, with the front end raised and the rear looking saggy.... have a look in my sig.

Then what do you think if I kept the Tannabe NR's and used the Bilsteins ? Too hard of a ride ? What about the hight ? My front is lower than I would like the way it is now , wouldn't mind an extra inch or so . The back is higher and at a good hight the way it is now with the Tannabe's. I just want a more level ride.

The Bilsteins will only provide the front end lift with the stock springs because they are a longer length and softer than these lowering springs. You're not going to see much of a lift, if any, being caused by the high pressure of the Bilsteins on lowering springs.

That being said, if you want extra lift in the front it can still be done with the Bilsteins by flipping the lower spring perch upside down. The spring perch is a removable piece and it's a very common mistake to have the spring perch inserted the wrong way. And many people come back saying the Bilsteins turned their car into a 4x4.

When I had Bilsteins (with the spring perch installed correctly) on stock springs, the front gap was more than 4 fingers and the rear was 2 fingers. With the Mazdaspeed springs, the front was a 2 finger gap and rear was 1 finger. Then I bought the spring spacers from JEGS for the rear and was able to raise the rear to 2 fingers.

What setup are you running now ?

The Mazdaspeed hatch/wagon springs, Bilstein HD socks, and a pair of those spring spacers from JEGS for the rear. It's a 2 finger gap all around.
