Can anyone identify this device in the drivers storage compartment. It's in a 2014 Mazda 6 touring ( 4 door not a wagon). The previous owner had no idea what it it and he had the car since new. I can't find any mention in the manual or online. This is in an Australian delivered RHD car. Thanks in advance.

No, but someone recently was able to get a TomTom update on their '14, so... who knows your luck.

Ahh, it IS the Navi card slot.. for the older (and stupid) tom tom system.

Harder question, can this be upgraded to a newer system with software only. It looks like no.
Nope, hard Nope-nopety nope.

Tomtom NB-1 equipped units have a Sanyo/Panasonic head unit with the NB-1 navigation "computer andwhatever" plugged in via what seems to be a USB cord.

Its basically change the head unit to an double-din after market, or accept that the tomtom unit is ancient and slow. there IS a upgraded bluetooth unit avaliable, but its cost prohibitive compared to an entire new unit.
