What I really like about the MS6

The thing I love most is how this sedan has performance - that even 15 years ago - was in "supercar" range.

Seriously, think back to the old Ferrari 328 or 512TR. Remember those? the 328 was 0-60 in like mid 5's to 6 and the TR was like 5 on the nose, and the latter with a V12! Despite the bickering on the Roush thread (thanks Mods for moving that, BTW), I am enamoured of this car.

It's amazing what a few years of technology can do!

I wonder what the Mazda speed series will look like in 10 years from now??? Imagine it, a Speed with 0-60 at 3.5 :) Hehehehe

Certainly in the last few years the bar has been raised by many cars, hell the lowly new Camry SE V6 can run a 14.5 and trap at 100 MPH. The Mustang GT500 is the fastest Mustang EVER made, LS1 F bodies run low 13's, EVO, STI, the SRT8 cars, CTSV, GTO.......

Electric?

Better enjoy what we have now. I lived through the late 70's/early 80's when some years a 16 second quarter was the fastest car you could reasonably buy new. The resurgence of the performance car started with the '82 Mustang GT, which put out a whopping 150hp and did 0-60 in over 8 seconds.

A lot will happen over the next 15 years, and higher performance may be measured in MPG or dollars per mile, not 0-60. Performance will go out the door when gas hits $5.00 a gallon.

Which begs the question, why aren't drivers any better? I can name an episode every week where some moron almost takes me out through some form of idiotic driving. And keep in mind, by idiotic, I don't necessarily mean driving fast!

Imagine a grandma in one of those camry's running a 14.5 1/4. Does that really make us safer????
I just like that nobody suspects my cars quick. But when I take off and punch it, they are like,"there a V8 in here" LOL

Second That.
This may be trivial to most, but I love the auto climate control.
Its easier to tell people the few things or lack of that you dont really like.

I 'm not sure if performance will go out the door because gas is already that expensive if not more so in Europe and they still have a performance market. But I do understand what you are saying.
I wouldn't discount hybrids, I'll bet some of the fastest cars coming out in the next 10-20 years will be hybrid or electric. The new Lexus GS45h hybrid was clocked 0-60 in 5.5 and [email protected] That's with an EPA estimated 25/28 mpg. Plus, battery and electric/gas motor technology will just get better and lighter. Hybrid technology is still in it's infancy.
I will discount hybrids just because they're a stop gap measure and no one still is thinking about their batteries and the effect that they WILL have on the enviroment later. But yes, you can get good numbers out of them for what its worth.

And what I love about the Speed6, accelerating in the rain and watching the water travel up my hood and waterfall down in front of the windshield. I don't know why, its just entertaining.
I think besides the performance aspects of the Speed6, the thing I love the most is the whole credit card locking/unlocking entry system for the car, its just cool. I think they did an excellent job with the Speed6, and obviously, like any car out there, it can be improved, but for the price, damn, sweet ass car...!

We don't have that thingy in OZ.

Yup, RFID technology is amazing, though I think my battery in one of the FOBs is going bad. Been seeing that "key" light in the instrument pod flashing alot while driving....
There are a lot of things I love about this car but this week the one thing that's standing out is the AWD performance in snow. This car is incredible on snow / ice - much better than any of the SUV's I've owned over the years. I know this board likes to talk about performance but the functionality in this car is also a major plus.
I traded in my 2004 Acura TL for the MS6 and am very happy.
My wife drives a 2004 Infiniti G35.
We looked at both the 2007 TL-S and 2007 G35-6MT.
Both those cars were close to $40k loaded.
While the MS6 was $28k loaded (net of rebates).
Plus AWD!

:D
