I have a 2006 Mazda6i with no side airbags or powerseats. I'm sure one of these is for weight and another is for the seatbelt but whats everything else for? Are they redundant?

What's the purpose of this black box with 3 plugs?

Yellow plug is redundant but the other 2 plug into that black box. I would like to know what these do too.

If I had to guess, I'd say they're probably seat position sensors and weight sensors that adjust the airbag deployment according to the person in the seat and how close or far it is from the wheel. I have yet to explore under the seat of my car, but I know my old Toyota had wires similar to that and the old forum I belonged to discussed the same things.

I might have figured it out. The black box is for weight. There are two sensors on each side of the rail that plug into the black box. The other plug on the black box is the output from the box to the car. White plug is for seatbelt and the yellow is just redundant.

every car is wired for everything... even if the option is not there, its cheaper to make a single wiring harness
