Hi Guys,

I`ve tried searching, but not found an answer. What I would like to know it what are the best points to change gear in each gear, both going up the gears - 1-2-3-4-5 or down the gears 5-4-3-2-1, ie, should I change from 1st to 2nd at 6500 rpm, 6700 rpm or 6000 rpm?

The car is stock, no mods to the engine / gearing at all.

I would like to know to help when I go to the track, if changing at 6100rpm is better and gives me good acceleration when going from 4th to 5th, thats fine, but if its better to go to redline, I`ll do that.

I just dont want to be redlining and actually going slower due to the engine torque / power output points in the rev band.

Hope I made sense.

Cheers,

Nige.

Shift between 6200rpm to 6600rpm, keep engine revving above 3500rpm at all times. You won't even need 5th gear at the track, forth gear will bring you 110+mph.

based on cp-e torque/hp curves:

1-2 near redline
2-3 near redline
3-4 6600
4-5 6600

thanks guys, thats kind of what I thought, basically, almost to redline.

nightracerx, thanks, but I certainly do need 5th on the ring !!

changing around redline feels quick, but I wondered if anyone had a curve that said lower was better, looks like it isnt so I`ll keep revving away..

thanks .
