I have been run an K&N filter in all my cars for a long time, but I'm looking at upgrading my intake/ TIP on my MPS 6 and I see that there are air filters that are dry types with no oiling needed. Can they last 100,000 and also be cleaned well to last that long without losing perfornamce? Thanks:p

K&N insists that they have debunked the whole "oiled filters contaminate MAFs" claim.
K&N Reveals Mass Air Flow Sensor Urban Myths

I don't know.

To me, a dry filter is just easier to maintain. I've washed more than my fair share of gauze and foam filters. The degreaser in the K&N kit? It needs to be a lot bigger. I've had to use Goop hand cleaner to clean my filters before (yes plural...4 ea on a motorcycle) because I was out of degreaser but still had 1/2 can of filter oil.

Dry filters allegedly have an indefinite service life.

I just cleaned my MAF and it looked pretty cleaned to me.
