Not sure if this has happened to anyone else:

I was driving home last night on the highway when out of nowhere my check engine, traction control and TCS OFF lights came on. My thermostat also stopped giving me a reading for the engine temp. Got it home and found coolant everywhere around the reservoir (and a bit of my driveway). Towing it to Mazda in a few minutes.

sounds like you have a leak(or bad T-stat).

thus allowing air in the lines and forcing pressure out of the res. the Res has a port on the back for over flow. if the air gets into the lines it will for water back into the reservoir and out the rear port.

the Temp not reading... is due to air in the lines.

Just got back from Mazda and it turns out the belt for my water pump got loose (hence the overheating). Going back tomorrow morning since they had to order in a new one...till then I have its cousin (Ford Fusion)...with a 4-pot and an AT...quite the change from a 3.0 MT.

the belt it SOOO easy to change. you should just do it yourself.

sure it is the belt and not the tensioner?

changing the Tensioner and belt is SOO easy. I could do it with just my teeth and a rusty set of wrenches.

did make a little mess of the drive pulley...... but that doesn't have anything to do with your problem.
