I started by searching for speed limiter:
http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?act=...topics&hl=&st=0

The I came across various posts dealing with this matter:
http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?show...l=speed+limiter
http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?show...l=speed+limiter
http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?show...l=speed+limiter
http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?show...l=speed+limiter

And a related topic:
http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=41927&hl=

Now I appreciate that you SAID you did research on it, but perhaps you were doing it wrong. Yes, I had to scroll through a few pages of results to pick out these topics, but they were fairly easy to find upon doing so. Hope these threads will answer your question.

Now with the speed limiter, the needle continues to climb but the speed doesn't change? I have had the needle touching 130, but i mean obviously there wasn't a noticeable difference between 130 and 120. Sorry i'm new, I understand why they have the limiter, i guess i have never felt like i pushed a car to a point where it wouldn't accelerate further.

Once you hit 120 the car will jerk, it doesn't coast along at the limiter. It feels like you hit something when you touch 120 and the speed bumps back down. No way you should be getting over it for sure.

From what I was told and read on the Mazda site, there is no speed limiter...only a rev limiter.

EDIT: I take that back, that is on the '06 models and I notced from your sig you have an '04. My mistake sorry.

You have obviously never been to a Contour Enthusiast's Group meet.

Also, remember the limiter SHOULD limit to a correct 120mph, rather than an indicated 120mph - certainly over here in the UK speedos are allowed to overread by up to 10% at 60mph, and my 6 uses nearly all of that 10%. IE at a true 70mph (GPS, CAN scanner, etc) the dial reads 76mph. At a true 133mph (an autobahn near Munich on Tuesday!!) it's reading north of 140mph. Before you ask, no we don't have limiters in the UK.

All cars have the potential to go faster than their factory settings...the TriPoint Madza6s that compete in the SCCA Speed Touring Car Championship started life as a 6i but their 4-banger motors crank out 280hp on the track. :drive:
