So I couldn't really figure a much better place to put this as I have a V6 and all, but the one thing I haven't been sure about since I got my car was whether or not the original powertrain warranty transfers to me. I know the original (and only real "owner") had it as a lease according to the report I ran on it when I got it, so I don't know if that would make any difference, but I just haven't really been able to find any information that helps me in this area yet. I know I've heard different things from different salespeople over time about different cars, so I'm sure it can vary. I've just gotten to wondering about it again after reading some of the pre-cat problems and EGR/PCV problems some have had. Any info is appreciated!

I should also add that this is an '07 with 37k miles that was initially leased around June '07 according to the report, so that's well within the 5 year/60k mile limit the warranty would have.

I would think that the power train warranty will hold true for any car, even if it has changed hands. however i would contact your dealer and see what they say as it may require some extra paperwork to transfer. not 100% but thats my best guess.

Are you referring to the dealer I got it from or just like a local Mazda dealer in general? I say that because I got the car from a local Ford - etc. dealer and I thought we asked something about the warranty at the time but they didn't seem to think it transferred. I'm asking this again here because, obviously, random dealership people are known for not knowing what the heck they are talking about....

Just called the local Mazda dealership service center. Pleasingly got a pleasant-sounding guy who said the warranty just follows the VIN and nothing has to be done about it....at least that's something I don't have to worry about for about 21 months now, haha.
