Got a warning message today morning.
  1. Auto Transmission Malfunction - damage to the vehicle may occur if you to drive.
What could be wrong? The vehicle has clocked just 37000 miles.

Something bad could be wrong, so please take its advice until you can at least confirm a few things.

Check your trans fluid level, check for leaks, and check if the thing can move between gears (while parked) at all without any issues.

If the fluid is low, you find a leak, or it's having trouble changing gears, the computer is probably right and you'll want to have someone look at it if you're not confident in doing it yourself.

Hopefully the error is a red herring and it's nothing bad, but it's not impossible that the car could have a problem at this point if the trans was abused or not serviced properly or any number of underlying factors.

Recently I have noticed that when I park the car on a slope, as soon as I take my foot off the brake pedal, the car moves half a feet backwards and slightly rebounces in the opposite direction from that point.
