I'm not sure if this is old news or not. But I got a response from Mazda regarding specific availability of the wagon and hatchback versions of the 6.

Notice that they evaded the question about all wheel drive.

In regards to your question, the MAZDA6 hatchback and wagon
versions will be available in the first quarter of 2004. We do not yet
have specification and package information available at this time. I
would welcome you to monitor our website, or simply check in with us
later this summer.

Thank you for contacting Mazda. It has been my pleasure to
assist you. If for any reason this response has not completely
satisfied you, please feel free to reply to this message. You may also

Man I can't wait for the 6 hatchback, and if it has AWD, then I will be in 7th heaven. But something tells me it won't, at least not the first year. But we can still hope.

Yeah, AWD would definitely be expecting too much. After all, they are a car company, so we can't expect too much out of them. ;)

Man, I would be so pissed if I bought an '04 hatch and the year after they bring out AWD on it!

The only version available at the moment anywere with AWD is the 2.3l Wagon, so I guess AWD hatch would take a while...
