I need to replace my oil control valve and that means opening the valve cover. I have a new gasket but do you recommend putting the gasket and silicone drops by the timing chain?

Also don't forget to replace the plug well gaskets. Some gasket outs don't include these for some reason. They look like o-rings and fit in a recess of the valve cover right where the plugs are on the head.

Well...I'm not sure what you mean. However, the mazda part I bought covers around the top and has rings for the four plugs. The rings are actually connected to the rest of the gasket.
