I've just became an owner of a 2009 Mazda 6 Ts2 D and it seems to be having some issues with the Turbo, it's making a grinding noise when the engine is idle, only way to describe it is sounds like a power drill powering down and running dry. I had someone look at it and they established the turbo is the issue, I just wanted to check if the turbo on the vehicle is programmed to the vehicle meaning it cannot be replaced or it is not so a replacement is possible.

You could do a direct swap.
Nothing else necessary. Just make sure it's the same turbo model housing you are using.
Sorry for the crummy news. Factory turbos should be quiet while idling.
