Hi
Ive got a 2007 MPS 6 with 28k and still no smoke, but for what ive seen in foruns it will probably start smoking soon, looks like 99% of mps smoke :(,well for what i seen theres 3 "solutions" that look like to be temporary but just wanna know which one of these is better or if theres another fix for this problem.

does mazda already have a pcv fix ?

3 solutions:

1 - engine oil 5w40
2 - pcv fix (pt perfomance)
3- bolt restrictor

I haven't tried any of those yet, but I'm going to switch to 5w/40 at my next oil change. What helped mine a lot was bumping my idle to 950rpms from 700ish stock I think. You need a tuning method for that though.. just throwing it out there to keep in mind if you pick up an AccessPort in your journeys.

There is also a restrictor pill that a few people have had luck with, but I don't know much about it. Forzda1 is on the pill, and is doing something else (I forget atm)...if he pops in here, he'll let you know :O

I wouldn't immediately assume that the car will eventually start smoking. Don't let forums scare you.

I use penzoil platinum 5w-30, I have 59k miles on my car, it's an 06 and I have no smoke issues whatsoever.

Just make sure you let the turbo cool off before shutting the car down.

My wifes Tiguan has a 2.0 turbo that is always spooling that turbo (lots of low down torque). When you shut her car off, the fans stay on for at least 5 minutes cooling off the turbo. Good idea in my opinion.

3 solutions:

1 - engine oil 5w40 (or 10w/40 for hot climates)
2 - pcv fix (pt performance)
3 - bolt restrictor "bnoon bolt"
4 - Raise idle RPMs via AP
5 - don't remove 2nd cat

I was able to get rid of smoke 100% via raising the idle RPMs to 800 via AP. When i removed the 2nd cat, i got smoke, raised idle to 950 and it is gone 80% of the time. Only once in a rare morning (like today) i get a tiny amount of smoke. and if i drive hard, then suddenly stop and idle for a while, i smoke a tiny bit. doesn't last long though and is NOWHERE near the thickness that other people get or I got when i first removed the 2nd cat.

for the most part i just ignore it. its not heavy or constant enough to care.

^Good point. I had only smoked 3 times in like a year, but that was BEFORE I started modding the car. If you reduce backpressure, it exasperates the problem. Mine started smoking a LOT when I added the test pipe which knocks out the 2nd cat to my 3" cbe. If you're staying all stock, you may very well have no problems.
