2005 Mazda6i___28k miles
Yesterday, for the 1st time, neither pressing the trunk release button on the dash nor the button on the key fob could "pop" the trunk lid. I looked on the drivers kick panel where the interior fuses are and could find none labeled for the trunk release. I also looked in the engine compartment fuse box and could find no fuses related to the trunk release, however, I did find a relay labeled for the trunk release.

two questions:

1. Is there a fuse for the trunk release, or does the relay substitute for a fuse?

2. Is a faulty relay a good suspect for my malfunction?

Thanks

Your suggestion did the trick.

I recently purchased the vehicle, so I'm not yet familiar with all the controls. I have a broken glove box and must have unitentionally disabled the trunk release button while trying to close the glove box. I had a vague recollection there was a disabling switch for trunk release button, but I forgot it was in the glove box. Do you ever use the disabling switch?

Thanks

only reason i knew to tell you to look at it, is cause most of us did it when we 1st bought our cars at some point. lol.

i do actually disengage the trunk pop when i store my car in the winter. that way if someone breaks in, i doubt they will no how to get the trunk pop to work.

Wow, I did not realize there was a disable switch. Is it clearly labled? Will have to check if that is my problem when I get home.

You know, now that I see it, I remember it from when i bought the car. Funny when you don't use a feature for 6 years you completely forget it's there.

Didn't the newer 6 have a button near the license plate lights that opens the trunk?
