My trunk lid is difficult to open. I have to push it up myself after it unlatches and when I do you can hear the gas strut thingies working. Is this something normal or should I go back to the dealer for some good old warranty repair?

I don't think the gas strut suppose to assist the opening of the boot/trunk. It was design to hold up the boot/trunk when it is opened so it does not fall on you head when you put you stick your head under it. Like it is on the Honda, Toyota and Nissan cars with their metal strut bar if you park on an incline or if their is a large gust of wind blowing toward the back of the car.

If you want an automated boot/trunk lid then you have to move on up to Mercedes, BMW, Lexus and other high end luxury. It requires a motor to open the lid.

yea same with me its good if you leave it open by mistake and drive off or when you have to put something that will have to stick out of the trunk like bike or something so it doesnt swing open fully if you have to leave it open
