Transmission fluid ,Dilemma

Hi guys!
i just bought mazda 6i 2005 automatic (with 38k) and wanted to change transmission fluid. i went to napa and the guy told me that i can't mix synthetic trans fluid with regular.
How i can find out what fluid i have? original from factory is "maxlife",right? but i have no idea if somoby change fluid already or not. or can i mix fluids together? am i gonna have problem with it if i mix'em. and can i use mobile 1 and valvoline trans fluid? what's my steps? plss.

That's just bollocks. Quite a few guys here, me included, did drain and fills from conventional trans to synthetic and we're running fine. Recall that the drain and fill process, does not completely drain out all the fluid all at once. You should be fine as long as the synth fluid is meets Mercon V specifications. There are two ways to change your ATF: via multiple drain and fills (I did mine every OCI) or via a trans flush. I won't cover the pros and cons of each because it's already been covered umpteen times already. A search will help you find the related threads.

so i can be good and not afraid to mix synthetic and regular fluid? i dun't know what fluid i have right now in tranny, cuz i just bougt a car. it's 6i 2.3 2005(38 K) . i just wanna do drain and refill. and what brand should i use?

Can someone tell me if the 2003 6 has a transmission filter? I need to do a fluid change ans was wondering how best to go about it.

The filter is part of the pan, therefore is not serviceable. You could put in a Magnefine filter in line like some of us did.
