I had my car smog checked today and two codes came up PO171 and PO174 = Too Lean RH, LH. I have the injen cai installed and it throws a cel like I knew it would. But what exactly do those codes actually mean? The guy at the shop was like "if it throws one more code it won't pass the smog next time" :nono: . Are those the codes the the cai causes?

Will there be more codes thrown because of the cai or is that it?

Those will be the only ones. You can get the CPE fix for the Injen intake to get some more power and be rid of the codes. I'm not sure how that works with smog tests, but you won't have any check engine lights.

Second this, although running lean has not been proven to be that bad for your car...at least studies that ran for up to two years. Just in case you want to wait a second.
