I would like to get 18s. What tire size will work the best? 225/45/18 or 235/40/18? this will be a big help so I can order the rims and tires when the winter is over.

40 if roads are worse. It will be a thicker sidewall than 35. Personally I think a 35 sidewall will look hot.

i'd use 225-45-18. it'll keep the speedometer true. and it's also what tire rack recommends. with a 35 series it's a pain to mount/dismount and good luck with the slightest of potholes

That's pretty much impossible. I mean, the stock 17s take a 45, going to 18's would lower that down to a 40, and going wider would also lower it more. Remember, the 45 in the 215/45/17 is the height of the sidewall, as the percentage of the width of the tire. 215/45/17 is pretty much the same sidewall height as say, a 235/40/17.

actually the sports package runs a 215-50-17 on the car. so 225-45 would be the correct plus size.. a 225-40 wouldn't hurt..neither a 235-40. but it'll read alil higher cuz tire will be spinning faster.

yes 215/35's look better due to the less amount of tire sidewall, but they are really inpractible unless you have perfectly smooth roads. if you get 35's you better pray you dont hit a pothole, brush a curb, etc etc or you will be sorry! not to mention they bubble up much easier.

as far as 225/40's, theyre a lil on the bulky side imo unless you are considerably lowered. it all comes down to whether your prefer looks (35's); or saving your rims/tires (40's+)

Actually, no again...

If the stock size is 215/50/17, then the +1 would be 215/45/18, or 225/40/18. If you wanted wider 17s, you'd get the 225/45/17 instead of the 215/50/17.

Np they aren't 60 offset. They were either 50 or 55. But I really don't think 60. I've never seen any in 60 even. :D

Hey guys,
I just got notice that there is a FUKKING "LUMP" or "bulge" on my tires..meaning i have to get it replaced...anyways...i called tire rack and they recommend i move up to a 225/45/18 instead of the 225/40/18 SUMITOMO tires i currently have...the guy said that this increase would:
1)Decrease my fender gap
2)Better protect my rim from potholes, etc.

So now im confused, i have to replace this bad tire due to its bulge because they said it might "blow" up on me but i dont know if i should get 4 NEW tires that are 225/45/18 instead of 225/40/18...he also said the ride would be smoother....can someone HELP..i dont know who to trust anymore!!!!

Thanks Guys
Elmer
