I was going to go down to South Bend this weekend to get a set of Dunlop Wintersports in 215 50 17 on Ford Fusion rims....and they don't have them amymore. Last week they did! I am SO PISSED! How can they stop selling them at the peak of snow tire season?

they dont stop selling them, they SELL OUT of them. people all over the country are buying them, and everyone buys 4 at a time, they go quick.
THey know they are going to sell them so they stock up. Dunlop tools up. I wonder if their tires are made at Goodyear plants?
that is no reason to say it sucks. things run out. it is life. i have dealt with tire rack many times and have had nothing but good experiences.

Duh......it IS almost winter, and they do sell a lot of tires. Is any of this making any sense yet? Did you bother to ask them when they'll be getting more in instead of just throwing your 3-year old style tantrum?
Tire Rack has always treated me well. Did you talk to anybody about when they'd be getting more, etc? I'm just surprised that they left you so sour, never had any treatment from them that would have me bashing them.
Just so you know, Dunlop is on strike right now as well, so if they don't have Dunlops in stock, good luck getting more. I just got my Graspics yesterday and apparently I got lucky, most of their tires are not coming out of the factory at the moment.
Not a good idea for any American factory to go on strike right now dont you think when the Japanese products are eating your lunch!!!
Analogy guy here:

Oh wait - next week is thanksgiving - duh.. </tantrum>

Well, it is halfway through NOVEMBER, when a lot of people have had winter tires on their cars for WEEKS now. So, chances are they've sold out of them.

This reminds me of people that piss and moan because they can't find an air conditioner at ANY store after being in a heat wave for a week...

sounds like you're the type that does all your christmas shopping on christmas eve.
Tire Rack gave me excellent service and prompt delivery of my wheels.

Sounds like somebody better call the:

Panasonicguy thinks everyone should Cater to him.....O_O

I'll tell you TireRack is excellent....I remember one time when I had hydroplaned on my Stock Tires on the protege, and hit a curb ripping the rubber sidewall. I called Tire Rack, and Discount wheel warehouse. Tire Rack promptly got my tires to me as soon as I needed them.

If I can't find a decent tire anywhere else...I will always buy from Tire Rack ^_^

That's not a factor. Snow tires are usually built in June and July (which is why they sometimes run out - dealers pre-order snow tires based on last year's sales and this year's forecast). Goodyear didn't go on strike until October and I don't think any of the Dunlop plants are affected (but I could be wrong on that).
Damn, guys. Cut him a little bit of slack.

If you've ever been to Tire Rack's store up in South Bend, you would understand how they are sold out. They can accommodate about 30 cars at any time. When I was up there 2 years ago getting my Blizzaks, they were running cars through there left and right. It's a tight operation still run by the owner. He's out there on the shop floor directing employees. It's pretty cool.

I'd say check into an alternate brand if I were you. Buy them now and then schedule a time to get down there for the install.
You should also realize the major companies order tires from them as well, like NTB and their affiliate companies to name a few. I have never had an issue with Tire Rack. You can go this route, I took the Tire Rack price, plus the shipping quote and took it to my local NTB, they matched the price.

You have options and like Dave Coyne, I have seen their opertation, it is pretty amazing the way the run cars in and out of that facility.
Tirerack rocks! I just ordered my 215/50/17 Dunlop M3s on monday, and they mounted and balanced, and had them shipped before the end of the day. They just arrived here early yesterday morning. Now that's quick! I ordered a small bluetooth headset from buy.com last week and it STILL hasn't left the warehouse.

I reiterate, Tirerack rocks!
I ordered multiple times from Tire Rack and only have positive feedback about them.
